October 2001, ICT Nova Scotia Newsletter

Metaworks was named Metro Halifax's Small Business of the Year by the Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce in September 2001. The Chamber recognized the company's completion of their flagship product, Mantis, the doubling of its workforce to 14 and its community involvement.

Metaworks has signed two contracts of their sales force application - Mantis Consumer Packaged Goods™: one with a major national food broker and one with an international manufacturer. The company also had six sales of their handheld conference guide - MetaGuide™, to clients throughout North America, including one to the American Society of Anesthesiologists and another to the Association of Computing Machinery. Metaworks has recently developed a partnership with the Medical Society of Nova Scotia and have strengthened existing partnerships with companies such as Palm™ Inc. The company had two installs of their healthcare applications at the QE II and Dartmouth General Hospitals. Metaworks noted that over 1,000 demo versions of their healthcare applications are downloaded from the Internet weekly. In addition, they are in negotiations with a pharmaceutical company for a sale that will see one of their applications delivered to 350 Canadian physicians.
